4-H Canada and Saputo Partnership

4-H Canada and Saputo recently announced a new national partnership.

Saputo is investing $660,000 over three years to support the more than 4,200 youth members currently participating in 4-H dairy cow and goat programs across the country.

The company is providing grants, awards, and opportunities to attend provincial, national and international conferences.

It will also encourage youth members to explore careers in the dairy industry through global internships and 4-H’s Careers on the Grow job search platform.

Registration Open for 2018 Pulse Agronomy School

Lakeland College Applied Research and Alberta Pulse Growers Zone 5 present the Pulse Agronomy Field School on June 18 at 9 a.m. 

It will showcase research on pea, faba bean, and soybean agronomy, with hands-on demonstration plots.

Guest speakers include Vermilion area soybean producer Trent Clark, Alberta Pulse Growers research officer Jagroop Gill-Kahlon, and Lakeland College crop research scientist Laurel Perrott.

Sustainability at Scale Podcast Series

Marrone Bio Innovations is sponsoring a 12-episode series entitled Sustainabilty at Scale as part of The Future of Agriculture podcast.

The company provides bio-based pest management and plant health products for the agriculture, turf and ornamental and water treatment markets.

The series explores the people, companies and ideas that are making modern agriculture more sustainable. Topics include soil health, biological applications, food waste and nutrient management.

Canadian Meat Council’s New Chair

David Colwell is the new chair for the Canadian Meat Council for a two year term.

Colwell is currently president of JBS Canada, a food company that provides further processed and value-added products.

The Council has represented Canada’s federally registered meat packers, meat processors and equipment suppliers for almost a century.
