Hogs

The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was $88.70 June 25, down from $95.03 June 18.

U.S. hogs averaged $116.89 on a carcass basis June 25, down from $122.62 June 18.

The U.S. pork cutout was $110.04 per hundredweight June 25, down from $120.65 June 18.

The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to June 26 was 2.368 million, down from 2.437 million the previous week.

Slaughter was 2.626 last year at the same time.

In Canada, the June 26 Signature Four price was C$250.38 per 100 kilograms, down from $253.87.

The Hams Marketing cash price was $248.38, down from $251.87, HyLife was $262.85, down from $268.73, and OlyWest was $267.60, up from $264.10. OlyWest 2021 was $264.70, down from $271.50, and HyLife’s adjusted price was $257.32, down from $268.73.

Lambs

Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 595 sheep and lambs and 23 goats sold June 21 .

Beaver Hill Auction in Tofield, Alta., reported that 661 sheep and 130 goats sold June 21.

Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $260-$300 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $260-$280, 70-85 lb. were $240-$265, 86-105 lb. were $229-$254 and 106 lb. and heavier were $230-$239. Wool rams were $145-$195 per cwt. Cull ewes were $140-$195.

Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $230-$260 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $230-$260, 70-85 lb. were $230-$250, 86-105 lb. were $220-$245 and 106 lb. and heavier were $215-$225. Hair rams were $170-$210 per cwt. Cull ewes were $130-$210.

Bison

Prices offered by Canadian buyers for slaughter in Canada start at $4-$4.15 per pound hot hanging weight for Grade A bison bulls and $3.90-$4.15 for heifers on very light trading. Canadian buyers are offering $4.60-$4.80 for prime bulls and $4.40-$4.70 for heifers for slaughter in the United States.

U.S. buyers are paying US$3.85-$4 per lb. hot hanging weight for prime bulls from Canada for U.S. slaughter, where slaughter times are booked. Heifers are being purchased at $3.60-$3.80. Returns to producers are dependent on exchange rates, quality, transportation and export costs.
