Keeping Blackleg at Bay

How do you avoid giving this pervasive pathogen an easy path to your profits? One of canola’s most persistent yield robbers still lurks in Prairie fields. Under the right conditions, it’s capable of pouncing on your crop before you even know it’s there. There is growing evidence to suggest that the cracks in genetic resistance are widening, which leaves producers increasingly vulnerable to yield losses.

Join Justine Cornelsen, an agronomy specialist with the Canola Council of Canada for a discussion on how to avoid giving this pervasive pathogen an easy path to your profits.

Justine Cornelsen is part of the Crop Production and Innovation Team with the Canola Council of Canada (CCC), where she covers off Western Manitoba and Southeastern Saskatchewan as an Agronomy Specialist. Her lead topic with the CCC is blackleg and verticillium management and she chairs the Canadian Blackleg Steering Group. Justine is also a part-time Masters student at the University of Manitoba in Plant Science.
