Ukraine’s 2019 rapeseed harvest increases

KIEV, (Reuters) – Ukraine, one of Europe’s leading exporters of rapeseed, had harvested around 2.73 million tonnes of the oilseed crop as of July 23, the agriculture ministry said on Tuesday.

The ministry said farmers had harvested 1.12 million hectares of winter rapeseed with a yield of 2.43 tonnes per hectare.

They had harvested 2.25 million tonnes from 878,000 hectares at the same date in 2018, with a yield at 2.57 tonnes per hectare.

The ministry gave no 2019 rapeseed harvest forecast.

The APK-Inform agriculture consultancy has said the 2019 rapeseed crop could rise to 3.58 million tonnes from 2.84 million tonnes in 2018. (Reporting by Pavel Polityuk, editing by Louise Heavens)
