Saskatoon auction breaks records

Ritchie Bros. Auctioneers held its largest agriculture public auction for the year in Saskatoon Dec. 2.

It sold more than $41 million of agricultural, construction equipment and trucks in a single day.

More than 1,750 pieces of equipment were sold, including more than 90 headers, 90 combines and 85 tractors.

New site records were broken with almost 2,900 online bidders registered and more than $20 million worth of items purchased.

Another record was set as more than 4,550 bidders from 32 countries registered in person or online, including all Canadian provinces and territories and 33 U.S. states.

Close to $15 million, or 36 percent of total sales, went to bidders outside of Saskatchewan.

More than 150 sellers took part, and 1,750 lots were sold. Every item was sold without minimum bids or reserve prices.
