Grain growers in north-central Alberta will soon have a new delivery point.
Winnipeg’s Paterson Grain announced in late June that the company will build a new grain terminal at Daysland, Alta.
Construction of the new facility will begin this year. The first grain deliveries are expected some time in 2016.
Daysland is about 140 kilometres southeast of Edmonton and 40 km southeast of Camrose.
In a corporate news release, Paterson said the new facility will have storage capacity of 55,000 tonnes and will be served by a loop track siding that connects to track owned by Canadian Pacific Railway.

The Canadian Dairy Commission will raise its farm gate milk price by 2.3255 per cent in February, the Crown corporation announced on Friday.
The new facility will also feature a dual receiving area that allows for efficient unloads and reduced waiting times.
The facility will be Paterson’s third modern grain handling facility in Alberta.
The company also owns a 57,000 terminal at Dunmore, Alta., east of Medicine Hat, and a 43,000 tonne facility near Gleichen, Alta., about 80 km east of Calgary.
“The efficient truck handling capability (at Daysland), combined with highly efficient rail car loading, will allow Paterson to offer excellent customer service even during the busy harvest season,” the company said.
