Friday results from Canadian Western Agribition

Purebred cattle shows wrapped up Friday at Canadian Western Agribition.

In the Shorthorn show, JT Livestock of Stettler, Alta., and Pinch Hill Cattle Co. showed the grand champion female, JTPH Beat the Heat 584C. DF Sweetgrass Maid 9C was the reserve exhibited by Dixon Farms of Vermilion, Alta., and Sweetgrass Shorthorns.

The grand champion bull was Bell M Foreman 30A from Bell M Farms at Englefeld, Sask., while the reserve was ACC Candy’s Big Hunk 34B from Anwender Cattle Co. at Radville, Sask., and Maple Lake Stock Farms.

GH Design Miss Exccellnt 104B from Rose Livestock of Filer, Idaho, Caitlyn Roe and Hirsche Herefords and Angus Ltd. topped the national Horned Hereford female show.

Triple A Herefords of Moose Jaw, Sask. showed the reserve, Triple A 2059 Pebbles ET 9B.

Triple A also had the grand champion bull, Triple A 2059 Bam Bam ET 11B. Big Gully Farm from Maidstone, Sask., showed the reserve, Big-Gully 102 Hurley 271C.

The grand champion female in the national Polled Hereford show was Elmlodge Boom Boom 32B from Elmlodge Polled Herefords at Indian River, Ont., and Tay Down Herefords.

Blairs.Ag Cattle Co. at Lanigan, Sask., showed the reserve, Blair’s 45P 33W Temptress ET 5C.

In the bull classes, Haroldsons Delta ET 69A topped all others. He was exhibited by Haroldson’s Polled Herefords of Wawota, Sask., and Wascana Cattle Co.

The reserve was CBB Shar-Lo 719 Shameless 308B from Cayley Cattle Co. at Princeton, B.C., Shar-Lo Farms and Wyatt Farms.

Charolais breeders also held their national sale at Agribition.

McLeod Livestock of Cochrane, Alta., won both the female and bull championships with CML Desirae 558C and CML Distinction 318A, respectively. Additional owners of the bull are Silver Spur Land and Cattle and Sunrise Charolais.

The reserve female was Cays Moonshine 11C from Cay’s Cattle at Kinistino, Sask., and Prairie Cove Charolais. Serhienko Cattle Co. at Maymont, Sask., showed the reserve bull, SVY Grizzly PLD 521C.

The grand champion percentage female in the Maine Anjou show was GF’s Sweet Addiction 1B from Tiffany Peters at Perdue, Sask., followed by TCF 727X Curly Jane 4B from the Cliffs Farm at Saskatoon, Hailey Sibbald and Lazy RC Ranch.

Grand champion open female was Jar Contessa 8C of Rawluk Livestock at Moosehorn, Man. The reserve was LSCC Star 7B from Lightning Strike Cattle Co. at Grenfell, Sask.

The grand champion open bull was KSIX Wingman 2A, exhibited by Hansen Livestock of Weldon, Sask. The reserve was Mr. Rusylvia Bennilli, shown by Rusylvia Cattle Co. of Derwent, Alta.

The first ever Club Calf Genetics Sale saw 25 lots sell for $101, 950, including a high selling black bull for $10,500 and a bred heifer for $9,750.

Canada’s Premier Select Ranch Horse sale saw just four entries this year.

The high seller was Battle Star Becky, consigned by Connie Bryce of Arcola, Sask., which sold for $7,300.

The four horses totalled $23,400 to average $5,850.

Seven barrel horse prospects sold at an inaugural sale. They totalled $42,600 and averaged $6,085.70. The top sellers were Beacon Crime from Rigetti Farms at Moose Jaw and Smokin On In from Blair Anton at Fox Valley, Sask. They sold for $10,500 each.

Sale results are unofficial.

Results from purebred sheep shows and the commercial cattle show also held Friday were not yet available.
