B.C. farmer re-appointed to FCC board

Dawson Creek, B.C., grains and oilseeds farmer Ross Ravelli has been re-appointed for a second three-year term as a director of Farm Credit Canada.

Ravelli, a former president of the Canadian Canola Growers’ Association and Grain Growers of Canada, was first appointed to the FCC board in 2010. The new appointment takes effect Feb. 10.

Agriculture minister Gerry Ritz announced the re-appointment in Ottawa Nov. 26.

Ravelli owns Ravelli farms Ltd., a third generation 2,500-acre operation.

He was involved in farm politics for two decades until 2008. He also is a commissioner with the British Columbia Utilities Commission.

He is one of 13 directors on the board of the Regina-based crown corporation, Canada’s largest agricultural lender.
