(Reuters) — Maple Leaf Foods Inc. blamed its fourth quarter loss on the “tremendous” costs of the restructuring.

Maple Leaf is revamping meat operations to boost profits and better compete with U.S. rivals. It saw costs rise as it ramped up five new facilities while continuing to operate older plants

It had a net loss of $14.4 million, compared with a net profit of $41.0 million a year earlier.
