Hogs

The U.S. national live price average for barrows and gilts was $26.23 June 5, down from $28.54 May 29.

U.S. hogs averaged $32.14 on a carcass basis June 5, down from $36.92 May 29.

The U.S. pork cutout was $72.78 per cwt. June 5, down from $88.20 May 29.

The estimated U.S. weekly slaughter to June 6 was 2.452 million, down from 1.949 million the previous week.

Slaughter was 2.410 million last year at the same time.

In Canada, the June 6 Signature Four price was C$150.51 per 100 kilograms, down from $164.68.

Hams Marketing cash price was $148.51, down from $162.68. HyLife was $146.01, down from $162.06, and OlyWest was $157.10, down from $168.20. HyLife’s adjusted price was $173.12, down from $193.18.

Bison

The Canadian Bison Association said Grade A bulls in the desirable weight range were offered prices from C$3.50 per pound hot hanging weight. U.S. buyers offered US$3.60 per lb. with returns dependent on exchange rates, quality and export costs.

Grade A heifers offerings of C$3.50 hot hanging weight. U.S. buyers are offering US$3.40 per lb.

Animals outside the desirable buyer specifications may be discounted.

Lambs

Ontario Stockyards Inc. reported that 1,126 sheep and lambs and 18 goats sold June 1. All classes of sheep sold stronger. All lambs sold fully steady. Goats also sold steady.

Beaver Hill Auction in Tofield, Alta., reported 589 sheep and 97 goats sold June 1.

Wool lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $220-$260 per cwt., 55 -69 lb. were $230-$266, 70-85 lb. were $230-$260, 86-105 lb. were $220-$253 and 106 lb. and heavier were $220-$227.

Wool rams were $110-$126 per cwt. Cull ewes were $110-$187.

Hair lambs lighter than 54 lb. were $200-$240 per cwt., 55-69 lb. were $200-$245, 70-85 lb. were $220-$250, 86-105 lb. were $210-$240 and 106 lb. and heavier were $200-$210.

Hair rams were $100-$160 per cwt. Cull ewes were $120-$150.
