Pricey pits

When CME Group Inc.’s futures pits in the cavernous three storey trading floor at the Chicago Board of Trade building fall quiet this month, real estate broker Holly Duran will be working to find a tenant for the space with cutting-edge fibre optic feeds and historic art deco setting.

At an asking price of $30 per square foot, the 36,000 sq. foot exchange floor — plus related space on an upper floor — could go for more than $2 million a year.

Windows long covered by vast price boards and displays will be revealed in planned renovations.
