CHICAGO (Reuters) — Private analytics firm Informa Economics trimmed its estimate of U.S. 2013 corn production to 14.162 billion bushels, from 14.223 billion previously, but raised its yield estimate to 161.6 bushels per acre, from 161.2, trade sources said Friday.
For soybeans, Informa estimated the 2013 U.S. harvest at 3.329 billion bushels and the yield at 44.0 bushels per acre, up from its previous estimates of 3.298 billion bushels and 43.3 bushels per acre, the sources said.
Informa officials had no comment on the numbers.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture currently estimates the 2013 U.S. corn crop at 13.989 billion bushels with a yield of 160.4 bushels per acre, and the 2013 soybean harvest at 3.258 billion bushels with a yield of 43.0 bushels per acre.
The USDA is scheduled to release updated estimates on Jan. 10.
